FAQ

Practical answers before you install AppLockr.

AppLockr is designed for personal Mac privacy: locking private apps and folders from casual access while staying native, lightweight, and transparent about what it needs.

Does AppLockr work with Touch ID?

Yes. AppLockr can unlock protected apps with Touch ID on supported Macs. Password authentication is available as a fallback.

Does it work offline?

Yes. App and folder protection is local-first and can work without a cloud connection. Online access may be needed for downloading, purchases, or license verification flows.

Is it Apple notarized?

Yes. AppLockr is distributed through an Apple Developer account and is Apple notarized for Gatekeeper compatibility.

What permissions does setup ask for?

AppLockr guides users through the macOS permissions needed for the lock flow and explains setup details in context.

Does AppLockr collect data?

AppLockr is designed without telemetry, tracking, or ads. Protection settings are handled locally on your Mac. Purchase systems may retain the email and license data needed for activation.

Does it work on Apple Silicon?

Yes. AppLockr is a modern native macOS app designed for current Macs, including Apple Silicon Macs.

Can locked apps be bypassed?

AppLockr is for personal and shared Mac privacy, not enterprise hardening. A person with admin access, enough technical knowledge, or physical control of your Mac may be able to bypass software-level protections.

Does it slow down my Mac?

AppLockr is built to be lightweight and native, with minimal background resource usage for normal everyday use.

Can it lock folders?

Yes. AppLockr can lock folders and supports local folder encryption for private local content.

What happens if AppLockr quits?

If AppLockr is not running, software-level monitoring may not be active. Startup and lock-on-launch options help keep protection active during normal use.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. AppLockr includes a 48 hour free trial. After that, the current purchase is €4.99 once.
